Emery Suarez, 4th Gr.

I grew up in Layton and now live in Springville with my husband! My first couple of years of school were at USU and now I am finishing at UVU.  I’m the oldest of five kids in my family, and my husband’s family is from Venezuela so that’s been a fun culture to adopt! No kids or pets yet, but as soon as we find an apartment that will allow pets we’ll have a dog 🙂
I love reading, playing the piano, cooking, traveling, being outside, boating, playing board/card games and being with friends and family! My favorite foods are Sushi and strawberries (but not necessarily together). I also have an obsession with Burt’s Bees chapstick and can actually finish a whole tube in about 2 weeks…
-Fun fact: My minor is Deaf Studies, I have studied American Sign Language for 5 years and love the language and the Deaf culture. I’m SO excited to begin my teaching career at Fox Hollow! I’ve dreamt about being a teacher all my life so I’m excited to now “live the dream”!

Last year I taught 6th grade in Provo, and I’m very excited to be back living in Alpine and teaching here at Fox Hollow! My husband and I have been married for 2 years. Together we love going to BYU Games, cycling, hiking, babysitting our nieces and nephews, and playing games. I grew up with a passion for dance and I have taught dance classes for 9 years. Dancing is something I still love to do today! I can’t wait to teach fifth grade this year at Fox Hollow. I know we can make it a wonderful year!

Heidi Clifford, 5th Gr.

Hello!!   My name is Heidi Clifford and I am so excited to be part of the Fox Hollow family!!   I grew up in West Jordan and have three brothers.  I was part of the last graduating class of Ricks college.  I had already been accepted to BYU for the last two years of a Bachelors degree, but strongly considered going back to the newly announced BYUI.  This last school year I completed a masters degree in curriculum and instruction from WGU.   From 2002-2008 I taught second grade at Pony Express in Eagle Mountain for five years and a year at CTA-Independence in Chandler, Arizona.  The end of February 2020 I started long term subbing a fourth grade class at Westfield and was strongly jolted into the need to be flexible as a teacher during the corona shut down.  My husband, Chris, grew up in New York and I met him on three different occasions over two years on the streets of Provo.   I have been at home with our four children, ages 7-12, for the last twelve years.   I have loved the good, the bad and the ugly of being a stay-at-home parent, it has been and always will be my favorite job.  I set two of my brothers up with my friends from high school and now call them sisters!!  I love playing games with my family, hiking, exercising, cooking, singing and playing the piano.

Lora Lewis, 6th Gr.

Hello! My name is Lora Lewis. I’m excited to join the Fox Hollow team this year as a 6th grade teacher! This will be my 11th year teaching. I’ve been a computer specialty teacher for the past eight years. Previously, I spent a year each as a Kindergarten and 6th grade teacher.

I’ve lived in Utah most of my life but have also called Texas, Alaska, Ohio and Washington home. I love exploring our beautiful world though I’m happiest hiking and regenerating among the red rock heaven of Southern Utah. My other favorites include kayaking, gardening, crafting, digital scrapbooking, hosting BBQs, playing Angry Birds 2 and spending time with friends and family.

My husband and son are my greatest blessings. Our favorite furry friend is Dash, our Shetland Sheepdog.

Laurel Blackham, Innovative Learning Coach

Hey! I’m Laurel Blackham, your Innovative Learning Coach. Before coaching I taught 3rd grade for 5 years in Alpine School District. I grew up in the small town of Moroni on a turkey farm. I’m the fifth of six kids and currently live in Lehi with 3 of my best friends. I love traveling, the outdoors, tennis, and eating all the good food. I’m an organized freak and love helping teachers learning how to simplify what they do through technology. I’m looking forward to another awesome year here at Fox Hollow Elementary.

Dayna Koch, Instructional Coach
I’m a Minnesotan! I grew up in the great state of Minnesota (Yes, I do love cheese curds!). I have an amazing family. My husband, Brian, is a very talented artist and high school art teacher. We have a 6 year old daughter (Iroquois) together and I have 3 step-children (Bransen 19, Scarlett 16, Mace 12).

I enjoy anything athletic or outdoors. I spent my childhood playing a lot of softball, basketball, and ice hockey. I played Division 1 and 2 softball as a catcher and was an All-American team pick my senior year of college. I’m much slower and a lot more out of shape than I was in college, so these days I enjoy some calmer activities. I love to hike, paddle board, mountain bike, and camp. I spend a majority of my summer trying to find new places to drag my poor family along on camping adventures. I love our National Parks here in Utah and spend as much time as I can there.

I’ve always loved learning. It was my time spent in a high school child development elective that made me realize how much I truly loved learning and the magic of passing that love of learning on to children. I graduated from the University of Minnesota Duluth with a degree in Early Childhood Studies and a minor in Journalism. I now hold a Masters of Education degree in Instructional Design and am close to finishing an Art Integration endorsement.  I have been teaching in Alpine School District for 14 years (first/second grades). I’ve always had a passion for integration and have taken every opportunity I’ve had to immerse my students in some amazing  deep-learning moments. I love to help students learn through exploration and strive to help create classroom environments that foster wonder and creativity.

I’m absolutely thrilled to be joining the wonderful team here at Fox Hollow. I cannot wait to see what all of us (students and staff) can achieve!
